Course

What do we offer?
We help you create beautiful garments to wear, treasure, and pass on. Our programme offers you the opportunity to become the tailor you always wanted to be, and experience the sheer joy of creating exceptional kilts.
Initially, the programme offers the opportunity to create one bespoke tailored kilt. This can be the start of a staged journey towards full accreditation, or for those who wish to simply experience the joy of creating a special kilt this can be as far as your journey takes you.

There are no minimum requirements to learn to tailor your first kilt. However, a healthy amount of enthusiasm and a willingness to learn would be an advantage.

Structure and delivery
We take pride in our method of delivery which we call “The Three Ways”. It uniquely offers the chance to learn 100% online efficiently through three different media; video, the written word, and direct coaching. The main body of learning comes in the form of detailed online videos which are supported by a comprehensive written word manual. Tuition is delivered by Marion Foster, a highly experienced and skilled Master Kilt Tailor & Trainer, and is supported by a passionate community of kilt tailors from around the world.

The quality of course content and the tutor are exactly the same, regardless of your end goal. Whether you create one kilt or work through to full accreditation, involving sixteen kilts, you will receive the same unique quality instruction, and have achieved a level of mastery, due to the high value of the learning process and the course content.
We want to offer flexibility, so the programme is designed such that you can complete each stage as it suits you. We understand that everyone has different demands on their time and works at a different pace. There is no set timeframe for any individual element of the programme or the whole – it is totally up to you.
The quality of training and support you will receive means anyone can learn from scratch. Having completed one kilt you can then progress to tailoring additional kilts, through to full accreditation having completed 16 kilts in total. Even if you only make one kilt you have the opportunity to document your learning and receive a recognition of achievement.Programme Content
Our course content focuses on the heritage craft of bespoke handmade kilt tailoring, using techniques pioneered by the master tailors of the Highland Regiments of old and passed down through the centuries. It delivers a unique and unparalleled level of learning to the student. The high quality and value of the content are not matched by any other available course.
